Saint Francis School has a proud history rooted in compassion and a steadfast commitment to nurturing young minds. Founded in 1976, the school began with 20 students and five dedicated faculty members. Over the years, it has grown and evolved into the esteemed private independent school in Metro Atlanta that we know today, now serving over 700 students with a team of 200 faculty and staff.
Under the leadership of Mr. Drew Buccellato, who became Headmaster in 1981, the school embarked on a transformative journey, moving from its humble beginnings in a small farmhouse on Mount Vernon Highway to the thriving Roswell Campus in 1986.
As Saint Francis School continued to flourish, it became evident that there was a strong need and desire to expand our educational offerings. In response, we proudly added a high school in 1994, allowing us to extend our rigorous college-prep curriculum and further our mission of preparing students to be successful learners and leaders.
With ongoing expansion and an unwavering commitment to providing the best education, we built a new high school in what is now Milton, Georgia. This state-of-the-art facility reflects our dedication to meeting the needs of our growing community and ensuring that our students have the resources and environment they need to thrive as they prepare for their futures.
Although Saint Francis is not a religious school, our name, Saint Francis, carries deep meaning and reflects the school’s values. As an Independent Non-Sectarian School, we chose the name Saint Francis to honor Saint Francis of Assisi—a figure known for his unwavering care and protection of the innocent. Our children, the most innocent among us, are at the heart of everything we do. We are dedicated to watching over them, guiding them, and equipping them with the confidence and skills they need to thrive in the world. Our students are seen, heard, and valued.
